The Haida Gwaii Society for Community Peace is a contracted service provider for Community Living BC Services for adults with developmental disabilities. We offer supportive, personalized in-home and community services for eligible individuals. Supports include life skills and home living supports, recreational activities, support and advocacy for medical and health matters, support with employment and skill development training, and more.
We support individuals with developmental disabilities to feel more included in their communities and to have a better quality of life. Supports include ways to get involved in and contribute their strengths and interests in their community, such as:
- Making friends and finding activities and opportunities in community to get involved with
- Improving your skills and developing work experience
- Feeling safer by knowing others in your community
- Making meaningful contributions to your community and finding important roles you can play in your community
Community-based Supports – Support can help to participate in community activities outside the individual’s home. This could include learning a new skill, joining a social event or participating in sports or recreation activities.
Home-based Supports – Support to learn new things or take part in social activities in the home, according to individual needs.
Home-based and community-based support could be part-time or full-time, and usually follow a schedule during the week.
